OMGProm is an integrated resource of Orthologous Mammalian Gene Promoters. The increasing availability of genomic data from multiple organisms has provided the necessity for integrated, comparative sequence-based tools that contribute to the decoding of genomic sequences and the identification of those sequences that induces gene regulation. The availability of orthologous gene sequences has encouraged cross-species comparison to identify key genomic regions that have been conserved across an orthologous counterpart. OMGProm is currently composed of human-mouse orthologous gene promoters with corresponding downloadable sequences, alignments (ClustAlW & Blastz) and links to substantive resources. We obtained the promoters from an extensive range of sources including GenBank, DBTSS, Ensembl, dbEST and RefSeq ; the current version of OMGProm, following a stringent filtering process, contains promoters of 5,717 unique human mouse orthologous genes which contains 8,347 promoters including alternative promoters for the orthologous genes. All of the data acquired from the several sources are primarily associated with their UniGene ID. OMGProm can be searched by Gene Symbol, Unigene Id & Genbank Accession Number.
